Trends In Pop Art Through The Years

Trends In Pop Art Through The Years is one of the most fascinating topics to consider. The last few decades has seen a great deal of changes and some of the most notable trends have come and gone, even though some seem recycled. Whether it’s two tone style in the 80′s, wild colors in the 90′s, gangsta rap culture, or simply outlandish costumes by pop artists, the trends seem to be something worth noting, even today.

One of the biggest trends to hit the world was none other than flannel. The Seattle grunge sound that swept through popular music in the early 1990′s was started by Nirvana’s hit record, “Nevermind” and Pearl Jam’s “Ten”. The Seattle sound changed rock and pop radio for nearly a decade, and the style of clothing was adopted by its millions of fans. The trend didn’t last throughout the 90′s and was hard to keep up, after the death of Kurt Cobain, even though some trickles are still felt today.

The 1980′s seem to be long gone, but who can forget the popularity of two tone? Black and white garb was all the rage for fans of the ska and reggae movement. Bands like, The Specials, The Selecter, Madness, and so many other UK bands were bring forward a sense of style that seemed to be quite popular amongst what are now referred to as “Rude Boys”.

Who can forget the explosion of rap music through the late 80′s all the way through the 90′s? The genre crossed into the mainstream pop culture, creating movies, clothing and so much more. The thug life might have stopped in many ways, but the effects of the genre and style continue to be expressed by many, in the inner cities and beyond.
